For some odd reason the Monday group of volunteers seemed to have been given the better day weather wise . The weather on Monday has been I would put it " Nice ", not too sunny, very little rain and a steady wind.
Where as the Wednesday group have had scorching sun , thunderstorms with heavy rain and as I wrote this on Tuesday , tomorrow could be another wet one for them.
Oh well back to Monday , the early birds of Tony, Peter and Dave did the usual sweep the drive of fallen cones etc. its just a warmer up for the rest of the day !
Considering the amount of wind we had had over the weekend the number of cones around were not as many as before. Maybe we are winning , Doubt it.
Vic was on his gardens most of the morning.
After finishing the drive we headed up to the south end of platform 2 , Brian had joined us and we started clearing and removing the cut material .
Earlier we were told that we had had another bridge strike and to our amazement whilst we were working another lorry had stopped quickly just before the bridge , of course lets go have a look.
Pat said there weren't many pictures of him
doing what he does best.
Where ever Pat goes he is followed by the gang of Peter and Brian on rakes and then Dave and Tony on wheelbarrows who in turn are not far behind them .
The area between the signal box and the stairs had been cleared regular mowing should keep it tidy now.
All debris and cuttings and whats ever in the wheelbarrows head to the fire .
By the time we return with a new load, the last load on the fire has vanished,
My Pedometer showed that my days mileage was just over 4 miles on site , just an average day at Broadway.
A fine and informative blog. Thank you gentlemen.
ReplyDeleteGood to see the greenery being kept neat. No 'Time Team' necessary then?
ReplyDeleteRegards, Paul.
Taken that there was no damage to the bridge? Did anyone get the reg number in case?
ReplyDeleteWell Pat is obviously the leader of the team, or is it that the rest follow him just to see where he goes? LOL!
thanks for the pictures and the words keeping us all up to date.
Regards
Paul & Marion
