Busy, Busy

Monday 25th February

Well today it was announced that it was the hottest Winter's Day ever recorded. It certainly helped the Contractors with the Tarmac laying.

Vic in this week set to doing a bit of gardening. Adding some Daffodils, turning over the soil and removing the weeds.

Two plaques were added to the walls. First in the Booking Hall, second in the Café.

The Broadway Café will be receiving its first guests next week when the formal opening of the Car Park will be conducted. There is still a bit of work to be completed in the kitchen.

The Running in Board being set up by Dave

The finished kitchen cupboard installed by Pete.

Visit to Toddington Station revealed some of the Bag Team well at work with modifications to the Platform 1 paving slabs. Rob, Terry & Bob in the first photo and Keith cutting slabs to shape required.

Road closure between Broadway and Toddington where drivers have been ignoring a weight limit.

Wednesday 27th February

A toast to Broadway Café from Paul and Dave.

The contractors had nearly finished the tarmac laying but run short. We were able to park opposite the station again.

Pat was busy in the picnic area removing weeds and loosening the soil. He also watered the new Pine trees and enjoyed the sunshine and admired his efforts..

Vic was also planting some colourful plants ready for our visitors in March. Also all the station furniture received a polish and the rooms a good clean.

The station clock was still in 2018 so Vic wound up the spring and reset the time. Can't have the trains running late!

Peter K swept along the platform 1 from end to end and looked good in the afternoon sunshine.

We had the plumber in today to finish off the kitchen fittings, which allowed Bob with help from Tony to finish the tiling.

It was also time to coat the white line on the edge of the platforms. So Mike and Ray commenced with Platform 2. Is it a race to the finish?? No I think Mike was just checking!

C & M paid a visit as more paving slabs were required at Toddington. Rod and Keith returning the trollies and Jim discussing with Tony any more items needed.

Dave was in the woodwork shop painting by numbers. The running in board letters getting a lick.

Vic
That's all folks.

Waiting For Paint To Dry

Wednesday  20th February 2019

Its actually light now when the early bird volunteers arrive and at least 3 were in attendance before 8 o clock. The rest drifted in before 9am, some a bit later. Weather wasn't not too bad .

Dave on Monday had painted and sealed the back of the New Platform 2 running in board , hoping that today Brian could put another coat on the face of the board .
Nearly 2 days and still it hadn't completely dried.

That is why we go home most days with lots of paint on our hands.any way we flipped it around so Brian could do his bit.

Pete and Dave made a new capping for the top of the running board , as we had found the old one was 1/2 inch too narrow, and after Peter had sanded it down , Dave then gave it the Primer Treatment.

Pete on the Sander
Whilst Dave was Painting , Pete painted new parts for his storage cupboard .

Later in the morning it was a case of mind that, its wet , mind that, its wet too and mind that, that`s wet also !

We also saw the return of the real painters Graham and Mike . Graham did a spot of repair and touching up in the Restaurant and Kitchen , whilst Mike did the same on the doors and door signs.

Strike the Pose
Remember our new replacement trees that got planted a couple of weeks ago .

It has barely rained since planting and they all were due a good soaking especially the ones near the top of the bank ( its very dry up there ), Gordon was up to the task , and after several journeys up and down the side of the cutting carrying a large bucket full of water he was Kn....ed .
Maybe we will buy him a hose next time.

A final visit from the Carriage and Wagon team saw the counter in the restaurant all finished off .

You can image what it will look like in a few weeks time with Tea , coffee and cakes cluttering up the place . I think that is what Ray, Tony and Graham are waiting for . Picture too rude to put on Blog !

Elsewhere the Waste bins got their new labels.

The Cement Hut finally left us for pastures green ( or Winchcombe )

Steve's new Dodgy Caravan !

Car Park Guys are nearly ready for the Tarmac. Soon

The Stairs on Platform 1 have now got the four uprights fitted.

And in the distance to the south, P way were up to something around one of the points and beyond them Line side clearance looked to have another fire going.
