Preparations

Monday 11th February

Good News

Broadway Station and extension received recognition.

Here we are receiving Steam Railway Magazine award.

Also the Heritage Railway Association 2019 award.

Painting

Dave, Brian and Vic were back in the woodwork shop adding primer and undercoat paint to various items to be ready for Wednesday.

Refreshment Room

Tony was once more in the kitchen busy with the installations. We also now have the counter ready for fitting.

Here is how they arrived.

Driveway

Kerbs have been added in the B&B entrance.

Pine Trees

Contractors arrived to plant some of Scotts Pine Trees as required when our old trees were removed.

Footbridge

As Friday was a poor day weather wise our three builders Neal, John and Jo were on Platform 1 and with a little bit of help hoisted the ironwork into place.

Palisade Panel

The panel removed by Pat last week was collected and brought down to Platform 2 by Dave, Brian and Vic.

One piece was large and the other a bit smaller, so Dave carried the smaller piece and Brian and Vic managed the other between them. It's a long walk and your arms end up 6ft long.

Wednesday 13th February

Station

There was quite a lot of activity around the Station today. The weather was much improved.

Refreshment Room

A team of carpenters arrived from Winchcombe's Carriage & Wagon to install the serving counter and back wall cabinet.

The Catering Team were also in and fitting out their storeroom.

Ground Work

Vic was busy sowing grass seed, planting bushes and improving the GWR sign.

Footbridge

Two posts have been added and Neal was on Platform 2 taking some measurements.

Driveway

The contractors today were finishing off the coach turn round area.

Hunt the Thimble

Four chaps having a good search. I'm sure it's here somewhere.

Station Car Park and Embankment Clearance

The Clearance Gang were hard at today tidying up the embankment above the new car park  which has a one way system..
The footpath is open again and being well used.

  3. Great report, with plenty of photographs, added with the pleasant reading.

Pleased to see the planting of young Scotts Pine Trees on the banks of the cutting at Broadway.

The photographs, showing the interior fittings for the Café, provided by Winchcombe's Carriage & Wagon, detail the superb craftsmanship.

I like how the steps for the footbridge, provided by Toddington’s Steam and Diesel Engine Maintenance Departments, look truly fantastic.

The awards won by GWSR are well merited and are a fitting tribute to everybody at GWSR.

I do hope the award plaque, which has already been reported to have been cast in brass, will be exhibited permanently at Broadway Station.

If so, will it be exhibited on the wall in Broadway Ticket Office, or on the wall in the Café?
