A Pictorial History of the construction of the Broadway Station Building 2015

Whilst I was looking through the old blogs I thought there must have been enough photos taken to show a pictorial time line of the building of the station.

I have concentrated on just the building , there was lots happening around the site before the start of construction , Signal box build , Platform 2 and The foot bridge erection etc.

Pictures were taken from the various blogs supplied by various volunteers.

And so back to April 2015

A general clearing of area of old bricks and miscellaneous debris.

Fenced off and ready to go.

July and August

After meetings the start of the  marking out of the foundations.

Early August trenches for the footings begin.

Mid August and the cement mixers arrive, to complete filling in the footings.

Footings all done, drying out.

Late August September.

Start of the internal block laying up to damp course height.

September Arrival of Steel uprights

Further deliveries of door frames and some of the window frames.

November the start of the erection of the upright steels.

Platform side first then the car park side.

A few weeks later with the aid of a crane the ring steels a temporary ties were fitted.

December saw the start of laying the blocks up to damp course level.

  1. Nice to see a timeline created of the building of the station building.
I had all the pictures from the blogs at the time and lost them all when my computer crashed along with many, many pictures of GWR locations as well.
therefore, it's great to see the building recorded again.
    Regards, Paul.
