Week Commencing 29th March 2021
Monday
With the relaxing of Covid restrictions, we are now allowed back to the station ( albeit just a small group of us ) . returning to see what the winter had thrown at us and try and prepare it for the start of the new running season. the weather was overcast with a stiff breeze coming from the south.
First a stroll around to see what had to be .
Whilst we have been away a few spring flowers have bloomed , without our help.
Not as much debris and pine leaves as we thought but still enough to have a small bonfire .
After over 3 months away time for a catch up , Peter Q on the right meanwhile has become an " octogenarian " and he is still going strong !
Before the last lockdown he had planted on the embankment several Hydrangeas . They all looked to have survived the winter . and the area of grass and weeds that had grown up around them was removed to give them more of a chance.
Not too far on the bank was Pat and the motorized Flymo giving the viewing area the first cut of the year.
Wednesday
Due to the present restrictions of meeting up it was decided to split the volunteers into two separate groups , The Monday group and The Wednesday group .
No Bloggers on the Wednesday group so Terry supplied me the photos to add to the blog.
The solution was to dig a trench under the fencing and sink blocks into the ditch.
Elsewhere the production of spear fencing continued, Mike seen preparing a newly finished panel ready for priming . whilst below Peter K constructing yet another in his Portakabin.
Blocks were then set in postcrete then covered in ballast
Finished product , hope it acts as a deterrent

Later in the day after the security issue had been sorted the , the heavy gang moved to the southern end of platform 2 and onto the ditch for the installation of the vertical edging slabs.
I'm sure their were other people digging other than Rod , but the camera never lies !
So there we have it , were are back again , some keeping the Station Area in tip top condition and some doing a bit of construction , so all we need is a few Trains and customers , which hopefully will resume on the 13th April.
Wellcome back you all, breathing life back into the best station on the line!
