Monday
Just Ian , Chris and myself on another hot day .
Chris was on the car park garden , removing mostly dead and dying plants !
Ian treated the contentious planter and it was eventually lined ready for planting.
Myself was on the bank behind the bonfire area on platform 1 .
Wednesday
Up to 4 volunteers .
A look at re felting the Goods Shed roof before the end of the year , 4 people have 4 different ideas on how to do it !!
Didnt happen , saved it for another day ( probably for a rainy day )
Needles are falling fast , so it was time to take Billy for a stroll up and down the drive .
Ian was up to mischief in the container ?
Locos around today were the Class 45 and class 47 , spotted arriving under the shade of the station canopy

Its a case of the few spoiling the fun for the many , the canopy erection team have asked for the cameras to be turned off for the duration of the erection , too many nit-pickers and over jealous Health and safety might be watching !!
If you want to watch please come down ,I'm sure you will be welcome.
Just a thought , when the station building on platform 2 is finished and we have eventually have to remove all containers , could we have a nice workshop / garden machinery shed . like this one as seen on the SVR last weekend ?
Isn’t it possible to turn the camera on when they are not working so that regular users can see the progress

DeleteYes. That shed at Arley looks just the thing. It looks like a GWR build and is of suitable size for almost any job. If I remember correctly, they are made of corrigated steel and angle iron, so shouldn't be too expensive to buy the items. Then, sfter flattening the ground area and drawing plans, it just needs a crew to put it together.

Does look lovely, indeed. External cladding is the traditional - looking corrugated metal, but inside is a breeze-block building which has taken a while longer to go up

DeleteI'm always inspired by the work Neal & John have put into the station buildings and the attention to detail is superb to see. Is it possible to dig into the embankment where the gabions are at the end of platform 2 and create a small workshop out of corrugated iron there. If it's set back enough with a retaining wall it wouldn't visually look out of place.
ReplyDeleteThe cutting side is still moving forward near the gabions, so not a good idea to dig into that area.

Shame the camera needs to be turned off, I'm sure most wont mind a get the job done Spirit to the work! Very exciting development however, I am eagerly awaiting the opening of P2!
ReplyDeleteI'm eagerly awaiting the opening of the signal box, but judging by how that's dragged on for so long, I reckon the Platform 2 building will be finished first!
