April no Showers

10th April 2019

Monday a few jobs completed, a bridge strike - Ouch and shelves added to the kitchen.

Wednesday was a Purple Timetable for the railway. Two steam trains for our passengers delight and a different combination later. Dinmore Manor arriving and leaving, then a top and tail combination with Foremark Hall and a Class 37 Diesel in the afternoon.

There were several things happening on and around the footbridge. Ron and David finishing the grading of the footpath, Neal playing Snakes and Ladders! more with ladders. Mike and Chris preparing the roof panels.

Grass seed was spread in the Picnic Area and along Platform 2, this was carried out by Tony, Ron and David.

The Woodwork Team were also busy in there workshop Peter, Brian and Dave repairing the Broadway Station board.

The Friends of Broadway Shop was open and had quite a few visitors, purchasing goods and delivering some items for sale. More Required!!

Some new publicity boards have also arrived at the station and adorn the walls.

In Broadway Café the Chiller Cabinet has been encased with wood panels, made by our C & W Dept and a delivery of Ice-cream is on display ready for the warm weather.

  1. The ice cream fridge could do with a wooden case as well, it sticks out like a sore thumb!

  2. They are doing their best there Aardvark11, sometimes you have to compramise what you have, the ice cream freezer is probably on free loan for selling the ice cream, that makes a profit to keep it all going! Other than that another nice report, lets have a board put up at the bridge with pictures of the first lorry strike! Hope their insurance will pay up for the inspection cost and repaint of the protection barrier!

    1. I don't disagree, what I was getting at was that seeing as the chiller cabinet has had a wooden case made for it, it would be an idea to have the ice cream fridge treated in the same fashion so that it all blends in nicely.

  3. Fascinating (as ever) particularly the pics of the bridge stairway construction which (for obvious but annoying reasons) cannot be observed from the WEB CAM!

  4. As there is no rain forecast , suggest you water the seeded areas to encourage germination , we had to do this at Hayles halt as we had no rain for 6 weeks and had a reasonable covering by June for the opening ceremony .

Will get you another bag when I am down next 30/4 best regards john M.
