Another cold start to the day and with temperatures around freezing , jobs in the warm were hard to come by.
The previous day Neal and his team had done a marvelous job in erecting the landing and stringers for the bridge stairs.
I was wondering how many people had watched them live on the web cam , work in the pouring rain, first do platform 1 and then using the class 73 to move the Warflat over, so Platform 2 could be done.
Dave had a nice warm job first thing , his task was to put the New clock up in the Cafe above the Fireplace.
After a bit of fiddling with the pendulum away it went , hope somebody now remembers to wind it up , no batteries are included.
Second small job was putting a small notice in between the hatches in the Booking Hall.
Braving the outside Peter and Brian were constructing the roof for the external stores cupboard
Brian in the first picture is making sure the piece of wood that Peter is cutting doesn't escape , whilst Peter in the second picture , do not ask !! probably having a funny five !!
Elsewhere Bob and Tony were tiling in the Kitchen , Pat was working on the broken fence and the drive way Lads were leveling out .

And for those that are following the rodent story , Still no success !
Look forward to the inevitable remake of Brief Encounter in the Cafe!
ReplyDeletePS I hope the store cupboard is painted to match the screen.
Railways are a source of food for rodents.
ReplyDeleteStaddle or Straddle stones used to raze buildings off the ground, were used by the GWR and others with some success, that and lining buildings with wire or expanded metal mesh. Poison falls victim to survival and evolutionary DNA, in that rodents develop a resistance.
Traps are usually contaminated with human scent and make the target animal nervous and at a heightened state of readiness.
Poachers used to wipe their snares and traps with fresh smelly wood fire ash to provide a smell that overwhelms the human smell and is quite a normal background smell for scavenging animals. Good luck.
Yes, I watched the footbridge stair stringers go in on the webcam, and very interesting too. 'I wondered who would spot that one', as Captain Mainwaring once said, only this time with reference to shunting the digger to P2 via the Warflat. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThe clock looks great in its location. The task of winding it will become more easily solved when the running season restarts. Believe me, I know!
Regards, Paul.
It is my Unknown comment above I did not realise, my mistake.
ReplyDeleteI hope to visit your lovely railway in the next couple of years god willing.
I hope the rodent information leads to success.
Regards.
