Week Commencing 23rd February 2026
Monday
First Gas bottle change of the year on the RBR !! done by myself and Ian .
Back to Broadway where Chris and Kevin were working on the car park garden.
The Driveway grass / weeds / moss needed its first cut of the year , as soon as had cut the top section Kevin racked up the grass to be put on the compost heap .
Doesn't look too bad weeds and grass are now the same height .
Wednesday
A bright springish day .
The numbers doubled , Mark and young Dave gave the new dagger boards a coat of primer.
The raised bed at the bottom had a tidy up by Kevin
On the road the bent Wasp sign on the bridge was being changed.
Another first of the year was finally we could have a bonfire , Mark and Dave had a good go at burning about four of five montjhs of rubbish both old wood and vegetation .
Because the drive way drops sharply to the fence and its not easy to mow , a small line of grass and later some hot lips plants might make a border , who knows its just an idea.
Dagger boards drying in the sun.
Back at Little Broadway a class waiting for the road .
Dave
I'm always boggled when the bridge collects another 'customer' who is apparently _unable to read_.
ReplyDeleteIn retrospect, adding the protective bar was the right move; people _cannot_ learn!
DeleteI don't think it's that they can't read, i think it's that they don'y know how high their vehicle is! If they did, they would not be on that road at all.
Regards, Paul.
The company who owns the offending lorry contacted the Railway and owned up to the Bridge Strike. They have paid for the repairs to the signage and some painting

Dave, just a thought about the bank down the driveway- how about sowing it with wildflower seeds? It gets plenty of sun there, and can just do its own thing. And easy, too.
