After the Holiday

Wednesday 2nd September

First off two items of news.

The Broadway Goods Shed Shop is currently not open due to Covid 19 restrictions, so we are unable to accept donated items.

The Broadway Station Cafe will be open on Thursdays and Sundays with restricted seating.

Peter Q was busy cleaning making sure everything would be ready when our customers return.

The morning was fine and dry but rain arrived for the afternoon. Vic was pleased that the rain arrived as he had worked on Platform 1 garden and planted six new donated shrubs.

Three volunteers were busy on the Spear Fencing Peter K assembling, Clive painting and Ian preparing a gate by removing all the old paint.

On the grass cutting, Tony had the lawn mowers out and Pat was strimming. Ron assisted by collecting fallen debris and wheel barrowing to the bonfire.

A shiny new manhole cover replacing the one broken by a careless driver. Dave working other side of gate.

Saturday 5th September

The locos today were P&O and Dinmore Manor with 3 well filled trains and slightly less on the final train of the day.

  1. The picture of the cake and the coffee is now classed as "A cruel and unusual punishment" for those of us that cannot get to the line!!!
Seriously though, great to see things moving along and hopfuly it will not be long before we can get there when we are given the all clear.
We saw the trains at the weekend on the Broadway camera and from what we could see they looked pretty full so hopefuly bringing in some money for the line.It is a shame there are no other cameras at the other stations so we could follow the trains progress, one of our friends was on the train and he gave us a wave to rub it in that he is now allowed out!!!(he phoned us as well!)
Keep up the good work and thankyou for your efforts.
    Regards

  2. Pity about having to buy the new cover, at a time when money for improvements is so tight. Oh well, at least the line is still well afloat (thanks probably in no small part due to the wise choice to focus on being volunteer-centric...)

  3. The spear-topped fencing is looking wonderful ! So much better than trying to revive old original fencing that has usually had many 'dings' in it from wear and bad handling, also the feet have mainly gone (rusted away) on the original panels. Well done to the railings team(s). I long to see some of the panels being installed, from the signal box northwards?
    Regards, Paul.
