The Grass has finally started to grow !

 Week commencing 22nd September 2025

2 nice days this week after last weeks wind and rain , finally the grass has reappeared after the long hot summer .

Monday

4 around today , little heaps of pine needles have been gathered up around the site , something to do with the high winds .

Chris had a turn with " Billy " first a trip down the platform and then up and down the drive , Billy had a full bag at the end of the morning.

More donations needed sorting out .

Myself was on the mower and Ian did the edges.

Wednesday

Over on platform 2 , the rear wall grows steadily ! Now on to the north facing wall .

Joined today by Chris and Dave , Dave helped with the strimming around the trees and posts.

Kevin was doing a bit of dead heading in the bottom garden still quite colourful .

Top garden had a tidy up , grass and weeds are in a full growing mode.

Chris was over on platform 2 giving a good sweep.

A spare hour or so on the dagger boards and lick of undercoat.

Locomotives on duty today were Foremarke hall , 2807 and D 47376

Holiday Season for us old folks

 Week Commencing 8th September

Monday

This time of year volunteers have their holidays , so in the next month some will attend whilst others are away.

Returning to the fold was Chris , away soon Ron and Myself !

A strange Locomotive was around first thing ! The track weed killer sprayer thing .

Weve have had to upgrade the PC to run windows 11 , in line with the railways suggestion.

Nice day for a bonfire , lots of needles and packaging to burn,

Ron did a few jobs in the kitchen , fixing a wonky panel by the side of the dish washer and a noisy tap.

Afterwards he went down to give the dagger boards a second coating of primer. Joined in the afternoon by Ian who had been sorting out the latest donations for the shed.

Kevin and Chris were seen weeding the platform garden

Kevin had a new tree saw and he was testing it out on the dead wood in the hedge !

I will be off for the next week , so you will have to use your imagination on what the lads get up to.

End of Summer !

 Week Commencing 1st September 2025

Monday

Back up to the 4 on Monday , at Broadway after yet another gas bottle change, I found that Kevin had discovered some grass to cut !

Strange things have been donated to our shed but this could have been the strangest , no not Ron .

Elsewhere Ian and Ron rubbed down the new dagger boards that will ornate the shed.

Over on platform 2 the bricks on the back wall rise steadily.

All boards at the end of the day had been rubbed down and given a coating of clear wood persevere .

Wednesday

Rain was on the horizon but we had 5 volunteers turn out.

First job of the day saw the changing of the tap on the outside of the signal box.

This tap had no return valve fitted so regs deemed it had to changed , a 10 min job.

Kevin was trying to keep on top of the brambles over on the bank on platform 2.

Chris and young Dave were also on platform 2 clearing the heaps of wet needles that the previous wind and rain had brought down.
Time to coat the dagger boards with primer / undercoat

2 steam today , which included 2807 and Foremarke Hall.

The rains came after lunch so by 2 we were gone.
